Zach Boychuk's time with HC Severstal in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia has apparently come to an end.

The 29-year-old Airdrie native was placed on waivers by the team on November 4th.

It's been a tough season for both Boychuk and Severstal.  The former first-round draft pick of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes had managed just two goals and two assists in 25 games with the team.  Severstal is languishing near the bottom of the KHL's West Division with just seven victories in 26 games.

Last year Boychuk had a much better year with another KHL club, Bratislava Slovan, scoring 11 goals and adding 13 assists.
