The Airdrie CFR Bisons were solid yesterday (February 4) as they picked up a big 2-1 win over the Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers.

Ethan Strang and Jett Jones picked up the only goals for the Bisons in the first period while Braeden Mitchell made 35 saves.

Head Coach Dan Gendur says he was very impressed with the performance of the team.

"I think that was by far our best team game that we've played all season. That's considering we only had three lines and six defensemen."

Many Bisons players were out with injuries, giving affiliated player Evan Miske and Nic Dobson a chance to suit up. Cayde Augustine was called up to play for the Kelowna Rockets over the weekend.

Gendur says the performance of the line featuring Strang, Jones and Brett LaGrandeur has shown great improvement since the Mac's Hockey Tournament in December.

The Bisons have just one home game left in the regular season as they take on the defending AMHL Champions the Leduc Oil Kings on February 10th. Gendur says although it's last hurrah of the season at Ron Ebbesen, it'll be business as usual for the club.

"We're looking to end the season on a high note for this organization. We're not changing anything with regards to our preparation as a team. We're still working, we're still developing and that's what our organization is all about."

That game between the Bisons and Oil Kings goes at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 10th.
