With help from two local products, Team Alberta evened their Men's Hockey record at the 2019 Canada Games in Red Deer yesterday (February 18).

Craig Armstrong from Rocky View County, a former member of the Airdrie Xtreme got the winner in the second period as Alberta hung on for a 6 - 5 win over Manitoba.

Alberta is now one and one at the games and on top of the Pool "B" standings.

Airdrie's Keagan Slaney, a teammate of Armstrong's with the Xtreme, was also in the Alberta lineup.

Alberta will play their third game in three days tonight at 7:30 when they take on B.C. who also have a record of one and one.  The game goes at the Centrium Arena in Red Deer.

Another Airdrie athlete was in action at the games yesterday.  19-year-old Thomas Hulsman was competing in the Biathlon 7.5 km sprint and placed 16th with a time of 27:28.8.  37 athletes took part in the race.  Hulsman's next race is on Wednesday when he's involved in the 10 km Pursuit.

Seven athletes from Airdrie and area are taking part in the Canada Winter Games.
