The undefeated Airdrie Techmation Thunder won once again last night when they face the Lomond Lakers in the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie to keep their 15 game win streak alive.

Despite the impressive score, the Lomond Lakers gave the Thunder a run for their money with their goalkeeper, Brandy Newton, taking on a bombardment of 75 shots. The keeper managed to keep all but eight out, despite some great chances.

Thunder Head Coach Derek Stamp said that they struggled to find the back of the net in the first two periods, but kept at it.

"It was a pretty loose first and second period; they had a really good goaltender and obviously that kept the score close, but our guys stayed with it and the end result was the 8-2 final," commented Stamp after the game.

Stamp was impressed with the Lakers goaltender and said that he played "really, really well". Stamp commented that the excellent goaltending kept his team from getting into their usual offensive rhythm.

"It was frustrating us to a point. You just saw (it). We were trying to make that extra pass, we were getting sucked down low on rebounds and (we were) just putting ourselves in a tough position to score."

However, eventually the Thunder found a hole and pounded away with Cooper Page, Rylan Plante-Crough and Jordan McConnell all scoring twice.

High scoring games are not unusual for the Thunder and Stamp said he feels "lucky" to have such a gifted offence.

"We've been a good offensive hockey team this year and that's kind of an understatement. We are scoring goals at a really high clip and it's spread out."

Stamp said that although the goaltending was good, relying on the basics kept them in it.

"It's trying not to get into bad habits and just trying to make sure that we stay with our structure and that we stay with the details that we know we're going to need when we play the other teams that are at the top of the league."

The Thunder play next when they travel to Ponoka on Sunday to face the Stampeders.
