Local swimmers stole the show as the Nose Creek Swim Association hosted the annual John Timmerman's Memorial Invitational meet last weekend (February 10-11th).

232 swimmers from Airdrie and the Calgary area came to Genesis Place for the event which was a great time for young and upcoming swimmers to showcase their talents.

Two of those young swimmers were Hailey Martin and Adam Fedorko who won their 300-metre freestyle eliminator races. Hailey also broke a club record in the 1500-metre freestyle for her age group.

Another club record was broken by Nathan Wong who swam 32.11 seconds in the 50-metre backstroke to break the old record from 2007. Wong also had an impressive run in the 100-metre individual medley by winning it leagues ahead of the other competitors.

Caitlin Merchant also won her 100-metre race by powering her way through the last stretch of the race to capture the title.

The weekend swim meet was also the last chance for NCSA Swimmers to qualify for Provincials which take place February 24-25th in Calgary.
