The Airdrie Stars hockey club were pleased with their showing in the first Hockey Super League (HSL) showcase over the weekend even though they won just one of the four games they played.

The Stars 2007 Major team opened up with a game against the Eagles Hockey Academy on Saturday morning and picked up the win by a 3 - 1 score.

Their next game was with Team Revolution who scored a 7 - 4 win over the Stars.

The team played two more games on Sunday and lost 7 - 4 to the Edmonton Gorillas and 4 - 2 against the CanWest Thunder.

The Stars played hard throughout the weekend and kept things close in every game.

Connor Smith was the leading scorer for the Stars with four goals while Ethan Cimolini contributed two goals and an assist.

Starting goaltender Konnor Broadfoot compiled a .830 save percentage.

The Stars will be working hard to improve over the next couple of weeks as they prepare for the next HSL showcase which goes October 26th - 28th in Calgary.
