Early yesterday morning (July 29)  a plane carrying Special Olympics athletes to the 2018 Canada Summer Games left Calgary for Antigonish, Nova Scotia and a pair of Airdrie athletes were on board.  

24-year-old golf team member Allie Price and 31-year-old Kristina Hansen who is part of the Alberta basketball team left with the rest of their Special Olympics teammates for the games which start on Tuesday in the maritime province.

They`re part of a group of 74 athletes and coaches who departed from Calgary.  62 more left from Edmonton International to represent the province in nine summer games events ranging from golf to basketball to bowling to swimming.

Price and Hansen will be joined by some other area athletes.  Paul Oldfield from Cochrane is a member of the golf team along with Price.  Sandra McCloskey from Didsbury will compete in 5-Pin bowling and Angela and Ian Lowther of Crossfield will compete in swimming. 

A total of 27 Alberta communities are represented at the games which continue until Saturday, August 4th.
