People are starting to take notice of Jake Neibhbours' first season in the Western Hockey League and the accolades are starting to come in.  

The Airdrie native has been named Rookie of the Month in the WHL for his outstanding start to the season with the Edmonton Oil Kings.  

Neighbours recorded 14 points with five goals and nine assists in 17 games as the Oil Kings surged to second place in the league's Central Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference of the WHL.  His performance included three multi-point games, including the first three-point game of his junior career.

Neighbours was also twice recognized as the third star of the game and once as the second star.  

Selected fourth overall by the Oil Kings in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, the former member of the Airdrie Xtreme came to the Oil Kings from the Calgary Midget "AAA" Buffaloes where he scored 57 points (26 goals - 31 assists) in 33 games last season.

Neighbours was also a champion at the 2017 Alberta Cup and won a silver medal at the 2017 WHL Cup.

Neighbours and the Oil Kings will be back in action tomorrow night (November 2) when they begin a six-game road trip against the Regina Pats.
