Just last season he was a bantam hockey player with the Airdrie Xtreme.  Tomorrow (January 4) 15-year-old Craig Armstrong starts his career in one of the top Junior hockey leagues in Canada.

Armstrong has received a call-up from the Prince George Cougars, the team that drafted him in the first round, ninth overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam draft.   Armstrong will be with the team tomorrow night when they take on the Rockets in Kelowna.

It's been a tough season for the Cougars who have won just 12 games while losing 24, including one overtime loss and two in shootouts.  The team is in the midst of an 11 game road trip in which they've lost seven of eight so far.

Armstrong got the call from Prince George after injuries to some key players.

Last year Armstrong and the Xtreme captured the Alberta Bantam Hockey Championship and finished second at the Western Canadians.  He's been playing this season at the Edge School in Calgary where he's racked up 11 goals and 12 assists in 23 games.

Armstrong was recently named to the Team Alberta U-16 squad that will play at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer from February 15th to March 3rd.
