While the Rocky View Schools Athletics (RVSA) basketball season comes to an end, the Calgary Senior High School Athletics Association (CSHSAA) still has a handful of games on the schedule. Airdrie teams were in action last night (February 13) but didn't quite get the results they were hoping for.

George McDougall Mustangs at Springbank Phoenix

The George McDougall Mustangs girls squads finished the season on the road last night. The senior girls managed to come back from behind and finish the season with a 41-38 road win.

Coach Martin Durocher credited the win to strong defence in the second half and was pleased overall with the team's first win since January 9.

"[We] did well to battle back from a 17-4 deficit in the first quarter, holding the Phoenix to four points in the second quarter."

The Mustangs finish the season with a 2-4 record, and Durocher said the team is looking forward to the playoffs.

The junior Mustangs were not as successful against the Phoenix, falling 60-43 in their final game of the regular season. With the loss, the team finishes the season fifth in the division with a 2-4 record.

Bert Church Chargers at Cochrane Cobras

The Bert Church Chargers girls teams faced stiff competition for their final game, playing the Cobras in Cochrane. The Cobras are the top-ranked junior girls' team and the second-ranked senior girls' team.

The season ended in heartbreaking loses for both junior and senior Chargers. The senior Chargers fell 81-44 against the Cobras, but despite the loss, Coach Andy Kirk said the team played well.

"We had the best half of our season in the first half of the game. We were down 32-30 with them pressuring us and us responding very well. Our intensity was great. We began to fade in the late third when we went into a scoring slump allowing them to get up 16."

The winless Chargers are currently last in the division, but they'll have one more chance to get a win when they face the Bow Valley Bobcats tomorrow (February 15) for a rescheduled game that was cancelled on December 19.

Meanwhile, the junior Chargers finished the season without a win after losing to the Cobras 51-20. With the loss, the Chargers end the season in last place.

Beiseker Bandits at Croxford Cavaliers

While other Rocky View teams played to get a better playoff spot, the JV boys Croxford Cavaliers got to finish the season with a lower stakes game.

The Cavs hosted the Beiseker Bandits for an exhibition game to end the regular season, which they won on home court 58-53.

An exhibition game between the junior girls Cavs and Bandits was cancelled.

St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks

In the CSHSAA, both St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks squads were in action.

The senior girls Kodiaks had home court advantage against the Henry Wise Wood Warriors but weren't able to capitalize on the advantage, losing 73-63.

"We recognize that we need to make adjustments both on offence and defence to see a better result," said Coach Tammy Paulence.

Brianna Caouette was the top scorer for the Kodiaks in the loss with 26 points, while Liza Avila was a key offensive and defensive rebounder.

The senior boys Kodiaks were also in action, taking on the top-ranked Central Memorial Rams in Calgary. They weren't able to pull off the win, falling 79-41 against the Rams.
