Calgary Police update public on incident in downtown core
On Thursday afternoon, Calgary police stated that while the Fifth Avenue Flyover in the city's downtown has been re-opened, other closures remain. Reconciliation Bridge and Fourth Avenue Flyover remain closed. "The road closures remain in effect & we continue to ask the public to avoid the area & to plan alternate routes on your evening commute to ensure emergency crews have the space to work," police state in an update on X (formerly known as Twitter). Earlier in the day police said that the incident was due to a 'person experiencing a mental health crisis'. On early Thursday morning, police alerted the public to the ongoing incident in the East Village area. "Multiple bridges in the downtown area will be closed for emergency crews to work.
