Rocky View County has had a fire advisory in place since late July, will Airdrie see one soon?

Airdrie and the surrounding area have seen a mix of rain and hot weather over the past few weeks. Some regions around Airdrie have fire advisories and restrictions in place, Rocky View County is one of them.

"Due to recent cooler temperatures and moisture, the City of Airdrie does not have an advisory in place," stated James Kostuk,  Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention and Public Education for the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD).

Kostuk also mentioned that AFD will monitor the temperature, wind and humidity and add an advisory in the coming weeks if needed. As of right now, next week's forecast shows rain early on.

Our neighbour, Cochrane currently does not have anything in place, same with Mountain View County.

Wheatland County and the Town of Strathmore both have fire advisories in place. If you plan on heading to the mountains one final time before school starts back up, the Calgary forest area, Canmore and Banff National Park are also under a fire advisory.

Foothills County and Vulcan County are currently under a fire restriction while M.D of Willow Creek is under a fire ban.
