Criminal charges are pending in two separate cases involving impaired drivers on Highway 2 between Airdrie and Calgary. The first occurred Tuesday this week just before 11 a.m. when a red Chevrolet Malibu was seen traveling northbound towards Airdrie. The car was being driven erratically, causing concerned motorists to call 911. Before police could intercept the vehicle, it collided with the cable-barrier in the median of Highway 2 just north of Yankee Valley Blvd. A 47-year old man from Acme was arrested at the scene.

Sheriff Jason Graw of the Airdrie RCMP describes the second case involving a 20 year-old man.

The second case happened on Wednesday. Graw says "the common theme in these two cases is that both of these individuals were reported to the Police by alert motorists". While they do have traffic officers patrolling Highway 2 seven days a week,  they can't be everywhere. Their goal is to make the highways safer for everyone and with the help of the public they were able to do just that.
