After finishing second in the North Division of the Heritage Junior Hockey League and getting a bye in the first round, the Airdrie Techmation Thunder know which team they'll meet in the best-of-seven semi-final series.

The Thunder will face the Mountainview Colts who knocked off the Three Hills Thrashers in two straight in the best-of-three opening round with the opening game being played tomorrow night (February 21st) at 8:30 pm in Airdrie's Ron Ebbesen Arena.

The Colts took the first game from the Thrashers by a 5 - 1 score then wrapped things up Saturday night with a 5 - 2 victory.

The series between the Thunder and Colts shapes up to be a close one.  In six meetings this season, each team won three games with one taking overtime to decide while another went to a shootout.  The Thunder finished the 38-game regular season with a record of 23-13-2 for 48 points while the Colts were just four points back of them with a 21-15-2 record.

The second game of the series will go Wednesday night at 7:45 pm in the Didsbury Memorial Complex.  Game three is Friday at 8:00 pm back in the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

The other North Division semi-final has the first-place Sylvan Lake Wranglers hosting the Rocky Rams starting Wednesday night in Sylvan Lake.  The Rams advanced with a three-game victory over Red Deer, winning the deciding contest 3 - 2 in overtime Saturday night.

In the opening round of the South Division, the Cochrane Generals took both games from the High River Flyers, winning by scores of 6 - 3 and 6 - 2.  The Gens will meet the second-place Medicine Hat Cubs starting Tuesday night in Medicine Hat.

The fourth-place Strathmore Wheatland Kings came back after being down one game to none to the Coaldale Copperheads to win two in a row to take that series.  The deciding win for the Kings came in overtime by a score of 4 - 3 and put them into the unenviable position of having to take on the South Division first place finishing Okotoks Carstar Bisons.  The Bisons, who lost just three games during the regular season will entertain Strathmore in that best-of-seven starting on Wednesday night in Okotoks.
