The Airdrie Techmation Thunder are on a roll, one that has propelled them to first place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League's (HJHL) North Division.

After a three-game sweep last weekend, which added to a win the previous weekend, the Thunder won two more this weekend, including an overtime thriller last night in Red Deer against the Vipers, skating to their sixth consecutive win.

Friday night the team was in Rocky Mountain House where they fell behind 2 - 0 to the hometown Rams before the game was 10 minutes old.  After that, all of the scoring came off the sticks of Airdrie players, including a pair from Jaccob Cathcart and singles from Dace Carlson, Jared Miller, Joey Haden and Reed Chalmers to lift the Thunder to a 6 - 2 win.

One of Cathcart's goals and Carlson's marker were scored while Airdrie was shorthanded.  The Thunder held a decisive edge in shots on goal, pounding 51 at Rocky's goalie while the Rams could only muster 29 at Airdrie netminder Austin White who picked up the win.

Another road game was on the agenda last night at the Servus Arena in Red Deer where the Vipers were the opposition.

The game was close throughout with Red Deer taking a 3 - 2 lead in the third before the Thunder's Will Barrett tied things up to force extra time.  Barrett's second of the night gave the Thunder a hard-fought 4 - 3 win.  Along with Barrett's pair, Joey Haden and Aidan Miller also scored for the Thunder who now have a record of 14-7-0 for 28 points in the North.  Airdrie now leads the second-place Mountainview Colts by four points. Last night the Colts lost 4 - 3 to the Coaldale Copperheads after beating High River by the same score the night before.

The Thunder hosts the South Division's second-place team, the Cochrane Generals on Friday night at 8:00 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.  Cochrane is 16-6-1 this season for 33 points, seven points back of the league-leading Okotoks Bisons.  Saturday night's game in Didsbury with the Mountainview Colts has been rescheduled for 1:30 pm, Sunday, December 11th.
