Team Canada’s World Junior Team continues to impress as they beat Slovakia 11-1 in their second game of the tournament.  

The first period was eventful for Team Canada as they scored four times in the starting 20 minutes to make the score 4-0 with Connor Bedard, Will Cuylle, Brennan Othmann, and Olen Zellweger scoring. 

Canada didn’t miss a beat as they headed into the second period scoring another four goals in the second from, Logan Stankoven and Mason McTavish with a hat trick. Slovakia did respond with one of their own in the middle of the period but by this point the game was over with Canada leading 8-1.  

In the third period, Team Canada put the nail in the coffin by adding another three goals thanks to Mason McTavish, Joshua Roy, and Zack Ostapchuk. To make the final score 11-1 for Canada.   

Mason McTavish added himself to the history books, by tying a Canadian record for most goals in a World Juniors game with (4).  

Other players who have scored four goals in one game include past and current NHLers such as Mario Lemieux (1984), Brayden Schenn (2011) and Maxime Comtois (2019).  

With this win Canada is currently 2-0 in the tournament, their next game is Saturday against Czechia at 4 pm.
