Lots of people came out to participate in the Alberta Beef Producers semi annual meeting this week in Edmonton.

Communications Manager, Lori Loree said there was great participation from the delegates and from people in the industry who made the time to come out to hear what had to be said.

"There were some very interesting speakers. We had Ryder Lee with the Canadian Cattleman's Association talking about the Beef Cattle Code of Practice, we touched on land use framework and property rights. As well as we just had reports from the Canadian Cattleman Association and Canada Beef," Loree says.

Loree said Ryder Lee made some interesting comments about encouraging people to be positive about the beef industry.

"Pick up a video camera if you are in the industry and take some great shots and videos and post them online," Loree says. "We're certainly encouraging people to take a positive look on the industry and put it out on the internet because that's certainly where people are."

Loree says another highlight from the meeting was hearing from hearing from Alberta's new Agriculture Minster and  Minister of Rural Development, Verlyn Olson.

"It was wonderful hearing him address the beef industry," she says. "He talked about his background and how he was excited to talk to beef producers in the province."
