A serious collision late yesterday (November 15) afternoon sent two female youths to Calgary hospitals, one of them in life-threatening condition.

Airdrie Rural RCMP was called to the collision at Big Hill Springs Road and Range Road 24.  EMS and fire crews also responded.

Two vehicles had collided head-on.  The female driver of that vehicle was transported to a Calgary hospital in stable condition.  The other youth who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to Calgary hospital by STARS with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called to investigate and the highway remained impassable for a time.

The investigation into the collision continues.
