A combination of black ice, snow and windy weather is causing poor visibility and tough driving conditions while RCMP is asking Albertans to not travel on the QEII in certain areas at this time.

According to the RCMP, there are over 30 vehicles either in the ditch or involved in a collision between Leduc and Airdrie.

There are a number of motor vehicles in the ditch, as well as multiple collisions on Highway 2 near Olds, Crossfield and Ponoka.

There are reports of a collision by the 40th Ave overpass causing delays and multiple vehicles in the ditch between Airdrie and Calgary.

Northbound Highway 2 near Meniak Road is now closed and traffic is being rerouted to Highway 2A.

According to Airdrie Transit, they have delayed Route 900 N/SB into this evening due to driving conditions.

Emergency crews are working as hard as they can to clear the scenes for other drivers and we would like to remind motorists to please slow down, move to the farthest away lanes and take caution when passing crews and the scenes. Please drive safe and take your time, so everyone can get home safely.
