One of the best day trips from Airdrie just got a little more complicated.

Moraine Lake near Lake Louise will no longer allow public parking at any time throughout the year. "Parking at the Lake Louise Lakeshore is extremely limited and finding a parking spot is challenging throughout the summer months. You cannot take your personal vehicle to Moraine Lake." details a statement made by Parks Canada Friday afternoon.

"Demand to reach Moraine Lake far exceeds available parking. In 2022, traffic flaggers were required 24 hours a day to manage the demand for access. During the peak of summer 2022, the parking lot remained full nearly 24 hours a day."

Parks Canada suggests using alternative transportation to visit one of the most iconic lakes in the world.

"Taking transit or booking a Parks Canada shuttle is easy, stress-free, and the only way to ensure you see these iconic lakes. Booking your shuttle in advance is required."

"Bicycles, including pedal assist e-bikes will be allowed on Moraine Lake Road. Visitors will be able to access the lake by bicycle. The journey is 25 km round trip."
