The death of 56-year-old Airdronian Darrin Gehlen whose body was found nearly a year ago along the pathway of Nose Creek, behind the Willowbrook neighbourhood, has been found to be not suspicious.
"The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined his death was not criminal in nature. There will be no further updates," wrote Cpl James McConnell of the Airdrie RCMP.
Gehlen's body was discovered on January 26, 2022, when police responded to reports of an unresponsive male along the Nose Creek pathway. The Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) did take charge of the investigation as it was originally thought there were suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. An autopsy was performed a day later on January 27, while the deceased's family released the identity of Gehlen in February 2022.
