Rasmus Andersson’s goal 10 minutes into the second period during a 5-on-3 play would be the first goal of the game, but certainly not the last for the Flames as they battled the Dallas Stars to tie the series on Monday evening at the American Airlines Center.

While the first period saw no goals for either team which made some wonder whether game 4 would be another low-scoring game, that all changed in the second period and third periods.

Johnny Gaudreau’s unassisted powerplay goal in the second period put the flames up by 2-0 and minutes later Elias Lindholm with an assist from Gaudreau and Noah Hanifin would give the Flames another point. The Stars responded with Tyler Seguin scoring a goal and robbing the Flames of another shut-out win in the series.

Mikael Backlund scored the last goal of the game, an empty netter with 22 seconds left in the game, giving the Flames a 4-1 final score and evening out the series.

Dallas Stars goalie, Jake Oettinger had an NHL career-high with 50 saves, while the Flames outshot the Stars 54 to 35. The hits were even up as each time got 29.

Game 5 of the series is back in Calgary at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday evening at 7:30 P.M.
