Amanda Tozser, a film makeup artist with Iatse212, has done makeup for major films that have come to Airdrie and surrounding area, including the new series "Under the Banner of Heaven," starring Andrew Garfield, which comes out today.

Tozser recently joined the Iatse212 union, saying it was a huge goal for herself.

“For me, this is a really big goal of mine that I've reached.  I'm excited to be working on quite a few films right now.’

The first two episodes of "Under the Banner of Heaven" have already been released on Hulu, with near-future plans to also be released on Disney Plus. The new series has big names like Andrew Garfield, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sam Worthington, Wyatt Russell, Rory Culkin, Gil Birmingham, and many more.

Tozser says she was part of the production right from the beginning and got to do make-up for a lot of people.

“I got to work with all the cast and it was a wonderful experience. When watching the scene in the monitor, right as it's being filmed, I literally would get choked up or just had to look away because emotions would take over.”

Under the Banner of Heaven was filmed in multiple Alberta locations like Calgary, Didsbury, north of Cochrane, Okotoks, and many more.”

Tozser says she’s currently working on some other big projects.

“We have “High School” with Tegan and Sara that is filming. I'm on “The Last of Us” right now and I just got called out to “My Life with the Walter Boys.”

According to Tozser, she and her union have had a busy 2021 and 2022 is expected to be the same.

In this year's Provincial budget the Alberta Government has expanded the film and television tax credit program while allotting $70 million in this year’s budget to help support the growing sector and attract big productions.
