Airdronian Farah Walker has made Team Canada for this year's 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship in Östersund, Sweden.

Walker who is a goalie is one of two Albertans on the team, Maya Serdachny a defenseman, is the second, who is from Edmonton.

In the tournament, Canada looks to defend its gold medal that they won in June, where they beat the U.S.A in Madison Wisconsin, 3-2.

So far, in this year's tournament, Canada has played a total of three games. One warmup game, and two preliminary-round games.

In the warmup game against Finland, Canada lost 4-3 but luckily Walker did play in the second period, not allowing any goals.

January 8 is when the preliminary round started, Canada's first game of pool play was once again Finland, this time, Canada won 8-0.

Today (January 9) Canada played Sweden in their second game of pool play, winning 4-2.

Canada has one final game in pool play which is against the U.S.A on Wednesday.

When not playing with Team Canada, Walker plays for the Okanagan Hockey Academy Female U18 Prep team.
