Iconic journalist and news anchor, Barbara Walters has passed away at the age of 93.

Walters was the first woman to co-anchor an evening news program in 1976 (ABC news) and continued to be a trailblazer in an industry that was dominated by men. She was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1989 and won numerous awards throughout her celebrated career, including 12 Emmy Awards. Walters received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

In September 2009, she was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards at New York City's Lincoln Center.

Walters was born in 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were both Jewish and her paternal grandfather was born in  Łódź, Poland. 

Known for her hard-hitting interviews and the ability to get unparalleled access to world leaders, during her career, she would interview every sitting American president and First Lady, from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama. While she also interview Donald Trump and Joe Biden, though at the time of the interviews the men were not presidents at the time. 

Walters worked on Today, The View, 20/20, and ABC Evening News. She worked as a journalist from 1951 until her retirement in 2015.
