A 29-year-old man has died in an avalanche in Kananaskis Country.

Kananaskis Emergency Services notified Stoney Nakoda/ Kananaskis RCMP about an avalanche in the park that had engulfed two people on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the efforts of rescuers, only the 26-year-old woman was found, while the man accompanying her remained missing.

On Sunday morning, the man's body was located and recovered from beneath the snow. 

The man was a resident of Squamish, B.C.

The deceased has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.
