With almost all COVID restrictions across Alberta lifted, the Airdrie Parades Committee is excited to announce the return of the Canada Day Parade after having to cancel the event for two years in a row.

Sam Morros, Co-Chair of the Airdrie Parades Committee, says the parade will run on the familiar route down Main Street and up Allen Street.

The first Airdrie Parades Committee meeting was earlier this week. Morros says there were nine committee members in attendance.

“We saw some new faces, which is really exciting. We got to have lots of conversations about some details of the parade and things that we're not quite ready to announce just yet.”

Morros says it feels like something they've been waiting for ever since the onset of the pandemic. They are really grateful to be able to get back to what they think they do best, which is planning parades.

When asked about other events they might be planning alongside the parade, Morros says they will have more information soon.

“Nothing we can share at this point but many announcements will come in the days to follow. The one thing I can certainly share is that registration for floats for any organizations that wish to enter the parade is going to open on April the first.”

To register a float or sign up to be a volunteer and join the Airdrie Parades Committee, visit their WEBSITE.

The parade will be on July 1 starting at 10 am.
