A tornado warning for Sundre and Airdrie has ended, though the severe thunderstorm warning is still in place for Airdrie.

A severe thunderstorm and tornado watch is in place for Airdrie and Rocky View County that could be capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to golf-ball-size hail and heavy rain for the afternoon and into the evening.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

As of right now, a severe thunderstorm watch is in place for:

  • Mountain View Co. near Carstairs and Stirlingville
  • Mountain View Co. near Cremona and Water Valley
  • Mountain View Co. near Olds and Didsbury
  • Mountain View Co. near Sundre
  • Rocky View Co. near Airdrie and Crossfield
  • Rocky View Co. near Bottrel and Madden
  • Rocky View Co. near Cochrane

A severe thunderstorm and the tornado warning has ended for the Sundre area.

There's a chance that this situation could endanger your life. If severe weather is expected, take shelter right away. Take refuge if you hear a roaring noise or see a funnel cloud, flying debris, or any other severe weather approaching.

Thunderstorms are expected over much of southern and central Alberta today. Some of these thunderstorms will become severe.
