September is just around the corner and this means Genesis Place price increases are also just around the corner.

Brad Anderson, the Manager of Genesis Place explains why the increase is happening.

“City Council adopted a motion to move to the market average for all of the user fees at Genesis place. So, there are some sizable increases in some of the past categories. This is just to align with the market average, and really to make up for holding the line or freezing it in the past prices.”

Since re-opening back last fall, according to Anderson, this has been the busiest year to date.

“We're seeing about a 30 per cent increase across the board in terms of drop-in admissions, as well as in our Passholder base. We've also got all of our programs pretty much running at full capacity. And that includes having our best summer camps year ever. We do expect that this will carry right over into the fall and that we're going to continue to see extremely high use across the facility.”

Anderson finished off by saying coming this fall, Airdronians can expect more public sports times.

“Sports like basketball, pickleball, badminton, soccer; we've been adding in some cricket, and I think it will be really popular. In October onwards, there is actually going to be a family drop-in time in the field house, which will have a combination of toys, games and activities that parents can just drop in with their kids and play in the field without having to pre-register.”

The price changes comes into effect on September 1.
