The Calgary Flames capitalize with the home ice advantage beating the Dallas Stars in an all important game five.

In the first period things were very slow pace with each team only having seven shots on net while also having one penalty each. Heading into the second period things didn't look to hot for the Flames.

Even though the Stars and Flames had the same amount of shots at nine, Stars forward Jason Robertson was able to put one behind Calgary goalie and Vezina nominee Jacob Markstrom.

In the third period the boys caught fire, Mikael Backlund was able to sneak one past Stars goalie Jake Oettinger. Shortly after their first goal of the game in the third period, Andrew Mangiapane sniped a laser of a shot bar down past Oettinger to give the Flames a 2-1 lead.

Markstrom proved for the rest of the game why he is a Vezina finalist not allowing Dallas to get any momentum and not scoring another goal for the rest of the game.

Trevor Lewis was able to capitalize on the empty net to seal the game for the Flames. The final score was 3-1.

The Flames look to finish off the series in Dallas on Friday night, game time is at 7:30 pm.
