A day after making some cuts to the roster, the Calgary Flames blanked the New York Islanders 2-0 Tuesday night, led by Henrik Karlsson's 13 save perfomance. "The Calgary Tower", who stands at a menacing 6 foot 5 inches tall, says it was great to get a full game in during the preseason.

Curtis Glencross and Lee Stempniak managed to light the lamp for the Flames. Stempniak says that although the games are meaningless in the standings, putting points on the board is important.

Now that the Flames are a few games away from starting the season, Chris Butler says the focus is now on being better positionally.

The Islanders were without many of their main roster, including forwards John Tavares and Matt Moulson. Calgary's Jarome Iginla, Rene Bourque, and Brendan Morrison sat out due to injury. The Flames next preseason game is tomorrow night against Phoenix Coyotes at 7PM.
