A man who served as Mayor of the Town of Crossfield for two terms has died.

Edward Murray passed away on Sunday, July 10th from cancer at the age of 92.

Murray and his family lived in the community for over 30 years and he served on town council and as Mayor from 1989 to 1995.  The town announced his death on Facebook on Friday.

He was born in Calgary January 16th, 1930 and grew up there before moving to Crossfield in 1955 to help out on his uncle's farm.  During his lifetime Murray worked as a City of Calgary firefighter, farmer and manager of the Rockyview Gas Co-op.  Along with serving as Crossfield's Mayor, Murray was very involved in the community. 

Murray is survived by his wife of 70 years Camille and two children.  He was predeceased by his daughter Elaine.    

 A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crossfield Community Centre on Tuesday, July 19th beginning at 3:00 p.m.
 
Flags at the Crossfield Community Centre were lowered to half-mast on July 15th and will remain that way until after the memorial service to honour former Crossfield Mayor Edward Murray.
