The Town of Crossfield has declared a State of Local Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Declaring a SOLE allows the municipality to enforce additional measures under the town's Emergency Management Act to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Some of those measures include the following:

  • ensuring businesses are following the recommended protocols
  • ensuring symptomatic community members self-isolate
  • ensuring gatherings are limited to a maximum of 50 people
  • ensuring that individuals who have returned from international travel are following the 14-day self-isolation recommendation

“The Town of Crossfield takes this situation extremely seriously and council has taken this step as a means of protecting our local community,” says Mayor Jo Tennant. “Our top priority is the health, safety and well-being of our community members and ensuring essential services continue to be provided.”

There is one confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Crossfield area according to provincial statistics. The map shows the Crossfield area extending east of Irricana and south to Highway 566.

“Town council and staff thank the community for their support during these trying times,” Tennant says. “It is a challenge to follow the province’s recommendations, and we appreciate the community’s willingness to get on board and work together to beat this.”
