According to the City of Airdrie, fire crews were called to a structure fire at 5:25 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27 at the 500 block of 1st Street N.W.

"When the Engine from Veterans Station arrived, firefighters found a garage fully engulfed in flames which spread to a truck parked in the alley and a neighbouring RV trailer," a city press release stated.

However, the homeowner, along with one dog, and one cat home at the time of the fire were safely evacuated. There were no injuries reported. Fire crews were successful in protecting the home and Fortis was called to the scene to attend to live power lines down in the alley.

"Two homes were without power and internet/cable was out to an undetermined number of homes at the time of the incident. $150,000 is an early estimate of losses."
