Heading into their third and final game of the group stage, if Canada was able to beat Czechia, they would lock up second place in their pool. But the tough Czechia squad proved to be a formidable match.

Canada opened up the scoring in the first period to take an early 1-0 lead but before the end of the first period Czechia was able to tie the game up.

Going into the second period, Czechia opened up the scoring to take a 2-1 lead, but by the end of the second period Canada saw themselves down 4-3.

Canada put up a strong fight early in the third period to take the lead 5-4, but with three minutes before the end of the game, Czechia was able to tie it up and send it to overtime.

Just before the two-minute mark into overtime, Tomas Hamara for Czechia put the game-winning goal behind Canada’s goalie to win the game 6-5.

Airdronian Josh Davies was held off the score sheet for the matchup against Czechia.

The quarterfinals will be played on Thursday. Canada will play Finland.
