A 29-year-old Calgary man who was driving a motorcycle that collided with an SUV near Cochrane yesterday evening has died.

While RCMP has completed the scene investigation and Highway 1A near Branch Road west of Morley has reopened to traffic, the cause of the collision remains under investigation.

From the initial scene examination, it is believed an eastbound motorcycle lost control and collided with a westbound SUV. The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene and was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.  The two occupants of the SUV were not physically injured.

"The RCMP extends our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," stated a press release.
