There will be a celebration of Canadian beef this weekend at Heritage Park.

The Alberta Cattle Feeders' Association is excited to be hosting Beef the Festival, along with Save-on-Foods and other beef industry partners.

The event will kick off Friday, June 15 with a gala dinner at 7 p.m.

"There will be a five course meal, featuring four courses on beef and wine pairings, and that featuring celebrity chef Mark McEwan," says Bryan Walton, CEO of the Alberta Cattle Feeders' Association.

Beef the Festival will take place on Saturday, June 15 from 11-5 p.m.

There will be a Kids' Zone and as well as an Alberta 4-H exhibit to check out.

Walton says there will be tasting booths presented by a variety of local restaurants as well as educational sessions explaining the "Whole Cow."

Cattle Trail will be there to explain each step of beef production.

"From the ranchers through to the auction marts, feed lots and people from the cow identification agency will be there too," Walton says. "Canada Beef Inc. will also be there talking about all of the wonderful things about the product we produce."

"This event is to celebrate the product and promote it, and to tell the story of how we raise beef in Alberta and other parts of Canada and to have some fun," Walton explains. "It will be unique and like something we have never done before."
