Local Albertans are making Airdrie and the surrounding area proud as they compete in the 2022 Niagara Canada Summer Games this year.  

The multi-sport competition is running this year from August 6 till the 21 and will give a chance for amateur athletes to display their skills and their training in the summer portion of the Canada Games. 

Local Albertans winning medals so far include Addison Butler in the 200x4 relay swim (Irricana), Sophia Howell who came in third in the female Triathlon category (Airdrie), and swimmer Wesley Wilks (Didsbury) claimed one more bronze medal for Team Alberta in the 50-metre breaststroke for males.  

There are still many athletes that have the chance to win a medal such as Nathan Flewelling (Baseball, Innisfail), Jaxon Zanolli (Baseball, Olds), Darby DeRuyter (Softball, Innisfail), Gracie Hodgson (Softball, Olds), Rayna Cruickshanks (Softball, Olds).  

After the fourth day of competition at the 2022 Niagara Canada Summer Games, Team Alberta is currently sitting at 3rd in medal standings with 8 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze, behind Team British Columbia who is in second with 28 medals and Team Ontario who is first with 32 total medals.
