Two more games for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder this weekend, each of them with very different results.

Friday night the Thunder were on the receiving end of a 6 - 0 blowout done by the Red Deer Vipers.

Even though the Thunder outshot Red Deer 37 - 36, they couldn't beat Viper goalie Josh Hilts who recorded the goose egg.  Red Deer held leads of 2 - 0 after the first and 3 - 0 after 40 minutes before adding three goals in the third.

On Saturday, Airdrie took a trip to Strathmore for a game with the Wheatland Kings.  Jack Turton opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game for the Thunder.  In the second, Joey Haden put Airdrie ahead by a 2 - 0 count.

Cole Tweit made things interesting with a goal for the Kings with 13 minutes remaining in the game but Airdrie shut down the Strathmore offense after that to secure a 2 - 1 Thunder win.

Airdrie remains in third place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League North Division with a record of 9 - 7 for 18 points.  They're currently two points back of the second-place Mountainview Colts and trail the first-place Sylvan Lake Wranglers by four.  Mountainview and Airdrie have each played 16 games while Sylvan Lake has been involved in one more game.

Next weekend is a busy one for the Thunder.  They play at home Friday night when the Rocky Rams are in town for an 8:00 pm puck drop at the Ron Ebbesen Arena before heading out on Saturday and Sunday for a pair of road games against South Division opponents.

On Saturday night Airdrie is in Coaldale to face the Copperheads.  Sunday afternoon they'll play the Cubs in Medicine Hat.
