The annual Airdrie Food Bank Turkey Drive will take place again this year, just this time without the help of Corey Mace, but with the help of the Calgary Stampeders on December 10.

In previous years, former coach of the Calgary Stampeders Corey Mace would hold a turkey drive for the Airdrie Food Bank. Unfortunately, Mace got a job with the Toronto Argonauts so he is unable to do it this year, but the Calgary Stampeders are doing what they can to help out instead.

"This year, the Calgary Stampeders actually approached us and asked if we would like to continue the tradition of a turkey drive at McMahon Stadium, which is one of the events that Corey did for us," stated Christine Taylor, Marketing Communication Manager for the Airdrie Food Bank.

According to Taylor, they only have about 20 turkeys and with the need, this year being larger than ever, they need the help.

"We're hoping to get some turkeys this year. Last year and many years before that we were able to share turkeys and other food banks because we had so many. This year our numbers are more than doubling and not having the Corey Mace turkey drive. we are definitely worried."

On December 10 from 10 am to 2 pm, the turkey drive will be held at the east parking lot at McMahon Stadium, they will also be accepting non-perishable food items.

If you are looking to donate a turkey and can't make it down to Calgary, you can always drop it off at the Airdrie Food Bank.

"If you want to donate a turkey, chicken or ham we are accepting donations that day from 9 am to 3 pm at the back warehouse."

Taylor does ask if you are dropping off a turkey at the food bank because of the Stampeders turkey drive but can't make it down there, just indicate the turkey is for the drive.
