Remember to turn your clocks one hour ahead before you go to sleep Saturday night because at 2 A.M. on Sunday, we spring forward one hour.

While you're changing your clocks, Airdrie's Deputy Fire Chief Fire Prevention and Education, James Kostuk, talks about how smoke alarms save lives in a previous interview.

“They really cut the risk of dying in a home fire, we want to make sure your smoke alarms and your carbon monoxide alarms are working.”

Kostuk also reminds residents this is the perfect time to check the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they're ready to keep everybody safe if an emergency was to occur.

There are a few tips and tricks when dealing with the time change, one is avoiding coffee so you don't have the urge to stay up later and alcohol since it prohibits you from getting quality sleep.

Another tip is making sure you don't take long naps, taking a nap mid-day is tempting. But avoiding naps is key for adjusting to the time change.
