Based on the 2023 annual Citizen Satisfaction Survey, whose results were released earlier this week, residents were less than pleased with Airdrie Transit.

According to the conclusions of the survey when comparing the data collected vs. the general population, Airdrie Transit was rated the lowest - 23 per cent vs 22 per cent of the general population.

However, Chris MacIsaac, the city's Transit Team Leader said in a written statement that Airdrie Transit continues to be committed to providing safe, affordable and reliable public transit options for residents.

"We keep a pulse on the satisfaction of our users through our hello-to-go app, which currently has a rating of 4.7 out of 5," MacIsaac wrote.

In his council agenda report, Ryan Johnson, Corporate Strategy Advisor wrote that the results of this year's survey are similar to what was observed in 2022, as well as a 5-year trend.

"Overall satisfaction with customer service has also decreased over time, from a high of 87 per cent in 2018 to 7 per cent in 2023," he noted.

Other notable city services that residents were less than impressed with were snow and ice removal.

While winter snow and ice removal were seen as of the utmost importance for residents, it scored the lowest in satisfaction. Airdrie's Fire Department which ranked both high in importance was also ranked high in satisfaction.

"The top services and facilities that public respondents were most satisfied with were: Airdrie Fire - at 89 per cent and Recycle Depot Programs at 82 per cent," the survey stated.

While the city's annual satisfaction survey has finished, the city also announced earlier this week that it will be conducting a city-wide census beginning in April. It will be the first census since 2019.
