The City of Calgary began repair work Tuesday, November 15, on a section of the large main waterline that feeds Airdrie. The job is expected to take three full days and Airdrie residents have been asked to conserve water as much as possible while the work is going on. Lorne Stevens is Director of Community Infrastructure with the City, and says we're not curbing our water use as much as we could, looking at the first day of the shut-down.

Stevens says if we can get consumption down to what the City has flowing into our back-up line, that would be an ideal scenario. This equates to roughly 9.5 million litres of water per day. He says, while the work is going on, Airdrie is in constant communication with Calgary to ensure our water needs are met. Hopefully, the work will be completed by the night of Thursday, November 17.
