The season for Airdrie's Splash Park in Chinook Winds Reginal Park is winding down as school begins next week.

The Splash Park was meant to close at the beginning of September, but that may not be the case, according to Cory Anderson of the City of Airdrie's Parks Department.

"We would like for it to stay open as long as it can, which is weather dependent."

While no specific date has been announced for its closure, the Splash Park has been operating for longer than usual.

"I think we had a great year. With the number of warm days being more this year than ever before we were able to open it May long weekend."

According to Anderson, Airdrie had an exceptional September last year. When questioned if they had encountered any problems at the park, such as vandalism, they stated that so far, so good.

"Everything has been really great this year. As far as vandalism, we've definitely had issues in the past, but so far, so good on that front."

Anderson stated that on a hot summer day, there will be hundreds of people enjoying the weather at the park.
