Although the weather isn't up to par right now, as soon as it finally is, the Airdrie spray park will be ready to go.

The park has been open since last weekend, but the bad weather put a damper on the opening weekend.

Cherylee Sargeant, a Coordinator with the Parks Department for the city of Airdrie, says there are some rules in place as there is no lifeguard on site.

“The park is to be supervised by parental figures. The big thing is we would prefer it if young children have swim diapers because that will destroy our water quality if anything was to happen there. Barefoot is not encouraged. You're allowed to bring food within the fenced-in area, but not on the spray pad itself. It's like any pool where we ask you to take a shower first, there are showers along the wall on the building. Also, dogs aren't allowed in the park and neither are skateboards, bicycles, or scooters.”

The splash park is located at Chinook Winds Regional Park.

According to Sargeant, the park typically stays open until the Monday of September long weekend

“We're open every day now going forward for the rest of the summer. Gates open at 10 and close at 8 pm,” says Sargeant.
