With the hockey season on the move, the Airdrie Xtreme are making final cuts to get their team set up for the season.

Last season, the U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme finished off with a 4th place finish at the Provincial Championships, having a 30-4 record in the regular season.

Tyson Soloski, the Head Coach of the Xtreme mentioned they made a few more cuts last night, with a few more to come.

“We are down to about 12 forwards, eight defensemen and three goalies. We'll have four players to release before we make our final roster on September 20.”

For the rest of their camp, they have practice tonight, and exhibition games Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This year was one of the largest turnouts of kids trying to make the team with around 115 while they usually have anywhere between 90-100.

“There's some really good talent at camp this year. I think we're going to have a strong team. The expectations would be to be competitive, and obviously, try to win more than you lose. But we'll try to develop all the players so they can play at the next level. Then ideally, that turns out to be winning a provincial championship for our team.”

The team has plenty of interesting tournaments so far, they plan on travelling to Abbotsford, and St. Paul while still hoping to get into the Rocky Mountain Classic in Calgary.
