The Airdrie Techmation Thunder of the Heritage Junior Hockey League fell short in game one of their playoff series.

It was a nail bitter as the Thunder lost to the Mountain View Colts in triple overtime, 3-2.

The Thunder's goals were scored by Jacob Cathcart in the first period and Dace Carlson in the third period.

The Airdrie Thunder made it straight to the second round of the playoffs after finishing the regular season in second place in the North Division.

The Colts did play in the first round as they had a series against the Three Hills Thrashers. Out of the best of three, the Colts were able to win two straight.

Game two of the best of seven between the Colts and the Thunder is tonight at the Didsbury Memorial Complex Arena. The Thunder look to rebound and even the series.

In the other semi-finals around the league, the Sylvan Lake Wranglers and Rocky Rams start up their series tonight, along with the Strathmore Wheatland Kings and Okotoks Carstar Bision. The Cochrane Generals hold a 1-0 series lead against the Medicine Hat Cubs as game two of that series is Friday night.
