After having to postpone the 2021-2022 New Year's Gala, Airdrie POWER has turned the event into a spring gala.

Airdrie POWER, which stands for Protecting Our Women with Emergency Resources, is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide women in Airdrie and District with the means to leave an abusive environment through emergency resources, education and empowerment, thus creating a safe and sustainable community.

Dana Gable, the Operations Manager for Airdrie POWER says this spring gala has been a long time coming with many cancellations.

“Our last one was New Year's 2018, going into 2019. The next year, we had construction for our facility, so we just decided not to do it. Then we were going to do it in 2020 and those plans got canceled. Then this gala was supposed to be for New Year's 2021 going into 2022. Now, it's a Spring Gala.”

Gable says the theme of the evening will be The Roaring 20’s.

“We hope people want to go all out with that if they want. I know I've got my flapper girl dress and Peacock Feathers ready to go.”

Any money raised through tickets to the gala will go towards the operations of the Women's Day Shelter intake program.

“We have women come in and we help them.” says Gable, “This money really just helps us to help women in the community.”

Gable says they want to fill as many seats as they can raise as much money as they can while sharing  their successes and hopes for the future with their supporters.

“We have a great dinner planned. Healthy Meals Made Easy is catering and they do a wonderful job. We will have some short remarks from our Executive Director after that. Then, we just dance the night away.”

There will a cocktail hour from seven to eight as well as drinks and live entertainment.

The event will take place at the Town and Country Center on April 23, to buy tickets, visit their WEBSITE.
