If you were at the Superstore earlier today, you may have noticed Airdrie East MLA Angela Pitt and city of Airdrie Councilwomen Tina Petrow donating their time to help raise funds for veterans, by participating in the poppy campaign. They were selling poppies and other items for the Airdrie Legion.

MLA Pitt said it's important to support our Legion.

"The Airdrie Legion serves as the hub for veterans in our community to access different services and really just to support one another."

Petrow has lots of veterans in her family, so she said for her, it's essential to help in any way possible.

"We've lost some, but we still have a couple with us. So ensuring that they have what they need and that they have that quality of life that they fought so hard for. For us, it's very important. So I will sit at the table every year to make sure that we can raise as much money as we can."

These tables can be found all over Airdrie raising funds. They can be found at Costco in Balzac, Canadian Tire, Superstore, Walmart and the Airdrie Registry, among others.

"There are different groups of people three times a day, so they're there all day, so you can go anytime," said Petrow. "I know I have to go and schedule a couple more shifts as well to make sure that they have enough coverage."

You can always reach out to the Airdrie Legion if you'd like to volunteer.

The Legion will be out and about every single day doing the poppy campaign leading up to Remembrance day which is November 11.
