Airdrie ranks 22nd when it comes to small cities in Canada according to bestcities.org

Three Alberta cities made the list, Lethbridge at #10, St. Albert at #14 and Airdrie at #22.

In the article Airdrie is described as a bedroom community that wakes up to its potential. 

“In a province known for wild swings in fortune tied to the price of fossil fuels, one small city has been trucking steadily for decades. Just 30 minutes north of Calgary and a few minutes away from its well-connected airport, things are looking sunny in Airdrie.” 

Airdrie has seen a population increase of 20 per cent since 2016, now sitting around 77 thousand people. 

The article also highlighted how Airdrie is building an 5,000-square-foot multi-use facility expected to open in 2025.
